More information is becoming available on the Flame virus and from the look of things, it’s a pretty darn sophisticated bit of malware. At present, the entity that authored it is still unknown but Flame’s current occupation is looking for sensitive intelligence materials – e-mails, documents, etc. – in at least seven middle-east countries. It is more of a tool-kit for compiling an array of code-based data stealing weapons than a single tool. As mentioned in a previous post, it almost certainly the work of some nation-state rather than a single hacker in the Ukraine. Heaven help us if someone somewhere decides to turn it into a cash cow for stealing credit card information, etc.
